Can Chiropractic Adjustments Help Me?
Chiropractic was founded in 1895 by Daniel David Palmer. Since then, millions of people have enjoyed the benefits pain relief, improved overall health and lasting results from chiropractic adjustments. Chiropractic adjustments are effective for the following musculoskeletal conditions:
Chiropractors perform adjustments to the spine and pelvis to correct what chiropractors call "subluxations." These subluxations may be the result of structural misalignment or may be the result of improper function. For example, spinal vertebrae may not move properly, which you feel as if something is "pinched" or stuck. Commonly this is felt as stiffness or tension as the muscles that attach to vertebrae tighten. Your extremities, the joints of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee and ankle may also require correction of minor misalignments and chiropractic adjustments are also very effective for the extremities. What does an adjustment do? Research in recent years has identified an abnormal process called "proprioceptive nocioception." In simple terms this means that the specialized sensors in a joint become overloaded due to injury, overuse, or bad posture. The result is a pathological reflex that may cause a snowballing effect: muscles tighten, circulation is reduced, the bones do not move normally and swelling and inflammation can result. The adjustment is a precise and discrete movement of the bones within their normal range. The pathological reflex is interrupted, muscles relax, circulation is restored and the body begins to heal. Depending on the severity of the condition and the length of time it has existed there may be need for some repetition to return the joints to a permanently healthy state and a series of adjustments may be needed.

postural habits are also important to support the effects of chiropractic
